Welcome to a very special week for our Necromancers’ Pride blog. We are very happy to have you here. You know, there is something to be said for the classics. Classic stories, classic movies, classic characters, they envelop us in a sense of nostalgia and a feeling that we are in familiar, comforting territory. Something doesn’t have to be old to be classic, but it does have to have withstood the test of time.
To that end, I introduce to you Mama Weaver. Now, she is indeed old, but she has withstood time’s trials to become a very interesting and significant entity in the world of Tarune. She is an extension on the classic, wizened, sage figure in fantasy stories. However, as with most of what D.W. and I endeavor to create, she comes with a twist.
We wanted to create a character that had knowledge that was imperative to pass along to you, the reader, but who could do so in a way that was interesting and amusing. The toughest element to incorporate into any story is originality. In that regard, D.W. is a master of infusing life and interesting concepts into established genres like epic fantasy.
Mama Weaver is what I suppose I would one day hope to be, an extremely knowledgeable individual who has retained a portion of the childlike essence of youth. In her case, it is a very large portion.
You’ve seen her picture. Now, get ready to get to know the mysterious and eccentric Mama Weaver – coming to you in January 2014!
What example of a classic literary figure do you enjoy?
