A Favorite from WAY BACK!

The Dragonlance Chronicles.

Just the name brings back nostalgic recollections of junior high afternoons with nothing to do but laze about in the warm California sun, settle into my backyard hammock, and be taken on journeys of magic and adventure.

Yes, indeed, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman crafted an amazing experience in those three initial introductions into the Dragonlance world of Kyrnn. Dragons of Autumn Twilight, the first book in the series, gave me my first taste of how a true band of adventurers was put together. Obviously, I tip my hat to and give a gracious bow to Tolkein, for his is the world upon which most others are modeled. However, Dragonlance accorded me personally the first opportunity to see fantasy in a modern retelling.

Weis and Hickman told a story with a master’s ease and total understanding of their world. Tanis Half-elven, Raistin, his brother Camaron, the noble Sturm Brightblade, the dwarf Flint Fireforge and, of course, the kender with his wanderlust, Tasslehoff Burrfoot, gave me a group of adventurers that sparked my imagination. Little did I know then, they would be the catalyst for my journey into fantasy, which has lead me to this point in my travels.

These amazing books were a big part of my youth and, as such, were hugely inspirational in my creation of the world of Necromancers’ Pride. For a great fantasy experience – after you finish the Necromancers’ Pride Saga, of course – check out these fantastic novels.
