With the release of Rouge One just a few days away, I thought it fitting to do a Tidbit Tuesdays on what is one of the most storied franchises in movie history.
But first, what is a rouge?
-
a dishonest or unprincipled man.
synonyms: scoundrel, villain, miscreant, reprobate, rascal, good-for-nothing, ne’er-do-well, wretch
Very apropos, as one of the greatest, most iconic of rouges is one of the most beloved characters in this franchise. Of course, I am referring to the one and only Jar Jar Binks.
Ok, I can’t even write that with a straight face. Please forgive me Han, YOU are the man.
So, in honor of this movie event, here are some Rouge One facts for you.
- This is the first Star Wars feature film not to center on the Skywalker family.
- Its place in the timeline is just before A New Hope, and 5 years after the Star Wars Rebels tv show.
- It is the first Star Wars movie that John Williams did not score. Michael Giacchino scored this film.
- The film’s working title was Red Cup…go figure.
Well, there you have it, some spoiler free facts to whet your already salivating appetite for the movie.
Here’s your quote of the day:
“Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.”
~ Han Solo
