What is Flow?

Ever get caught in a rut? You know, that feeling you get when you know you should be moving along yet, sadly, you are mired in the muck of your own uncertainty. You see others moving with what seems like impossible or unattainable ease. You though, just cannot see to free yourself from whatever quagmire it is in which you are encased.

Flow is energy. Flow is freedom. Flow is something that, quite frankly, I am working diligently to get back into. Here, with you, I have always been, and shall always continue to be, totally honest. Finding your flow is not easy, at least, it has not been for me. It’s funny, there are many similes for moving through life:

  • Life is like sailing on the open sea.
  • Life is like a road.
  • Life is like a river.

The list goes on. I won’t bore you with more, you’ve heard them all before. You know what else life is like? Life is like an ocean that has frozen over, a road that dead ends and a river that is damned. At least, that is how it can feel. Why? Because life is not always easy.

But, who says easy is necessarily good. Those trials and tribulations life slings our way give us character, strength and perspective. They bring the best out of us, testing us and forcing us to push ourselves to places we did not think possible. That is where flow comes in. Being in the flow gives us the feeling that we are moving, that we are connected to a higher energy that helps us through the tough times. By higher, I mean interconnected to the human consciousness as a whole. It is not necessarily a religious thing, though for some it can be. Rather, flow connects us to the human condition, the energy of being.

I’ll talk more about this tomorrow, for now, just know that if you feel like you are stuck, you are not alone. Also know that there are ways to get unstuck. Here at The Shield of Destiny, we will help to unstick you.

Why? Because we are all interconnected. That higher energy that that links us is the force that frees us.

The first step in getting back into the flow is acknowledging that you are ready to dive back into that river of life. Thanks to all of you, among other amazing things, I am swimming again. Thanks to you, I am getting back into the flow. Come on, dive in with me, the water’s just fine.

Here’s your quote of the day:

Those who flow as life flows know they need no other source.

~ Lao Tzu
